*Apologetics Organizations/Ministries

www.arcapologetics.org - Here is the Apologetic Resource Center based in Birmingham, AL. Craig Branch is the director and Dr. Steve Cowan, who taught me in Seminary, and is now teaching me at BTS, is on staff there.  They will mail you free resource packets on just about any subject or issue of our day. I recommend ordering various packets for the issues/questions you face.  They also have an Areopagus Journal that is an apologetics type of journal with various articles covering the issues and questions of our day.

www.lifeway.com/lwc/mainpage/0%2C1701%2CM%25253D200777%2C00.html Here is Lifeway’s apologetics website.

www.str.org – Stand to Reason apologetic ministry with Greg Koukl as its founder.

www.rzim.org/index.php - This is the ministry website of Ravi Zacharias. Zacharias is originally from India and is probably one of the most articulate defenders of the faith today.  I highly recommend, if you are up to it, reading some of his books and resources.  They are intellectually and spiritually enriching (at least to me they are).

www.bethinking.org/resource.php?ID=114&Media=Audio&MediaType=Download –Michael Ramsden’s (from Ravi Zacharias’ ministry) apologetics website

www.fixed-point.org - This ministry is based out of Birmingham, AL and its director is Larry Taunton.  Recently this ministry hosted “The God Delusion” debate where Dr. John Lennox (a Christian) and Dr. Richard Dawkins (a self-proclaimed hard-core atheist/evolutionist) debated at UAB. They have good resources and are a credible ministry.

www.carm.org - A site with lots of good information on it. One thing I recommend from this site is the CARM Notebook that has all of his apologetics in a single binder. This is just another site to look to for resources.

www.probe.org - Good, general apologetical information website.

www.rctr.org - Gives answers in the areas of theology, ethics, the cults, world religions, worship, church history and various other subjects.

www.veritas.org - The “Veritas” (Veritas, I believe, is Latin for “Truth”) forums are conferences/lectures being held on college campuses all across the nation that bring in the religious and the irreligious alike to debate and discuss various intellectual and spiritual issues of our day.  Kelly Monroe Kullberg, author of the book, “Finding God at Harvard,” interviews “forty-two faculty members, former students, and distinguished orators at Harvard. Their candid reflections explode the myth that Christian faith cannot survive a rigorous intellectual atmosphere.”  I have not read this book, but she has a passion for showing the relevancy of Christ to those in the Academic realm.

*Apologetic Books/Resources

www.bhpublishinggroup.com/apologeticsbible/video.asp -The Apologetics Study Bible

www.logos.com/products/groups/allitems/theology-doctrine-apologetics - Various books and software on apologetics and for Bible study.

www.summit.org/pdf/resource/fact_sheet/apologetics.pdf - An “apologetics fact sheet” that helps to define apologetics and give definitions to various apologetical terms.  It also has a list of books on various issues as well as a number of apologetic websites that would be helpful.

*Abortion

www.abort73.com - STOP!  (Read further before you click here).  This site gives good reasons and good resources in assisting the belief that abortion is wrong. One of the strongest parts of this site is that it actually gives you some pretty intense pictures of babies actually being aborted, murdered, etc.  It is quite disturbing and will bring you to tears.  If you have a weak stomach, then don’t go there. However, if you are trying to convince someone that what is in her womb is a baby, possibly, take her to this site and let her see the baby she is about to kill.  Very strong site, but may be very effective as well in convincing someone to choose life.  We ought to be horrified because we are killing innocent lives!

*Age of the Earth/Universe

Young Earth Sites

www.creationevidence.org/cemframes.html - Dr. Carl Baugh’s website.  He has some of the more convincing evidence, I think, for a young earth. In particular, the human footprints that he has found alongside and even inside dinosaur footprints. Did humans dwell with dinosaurs? He seems to have good evidence to believe so.

www.answersingenesis.org - Ken Ham is the founder of this ministry.  A very popular “young earth” ministry organization. Of particular interest and help to me is the “Get Answers” link. It is here for convenience: www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/qa.asp  Research and look up the evidence for a young earth for yourself.

www.icr.org - Probably the first “official” young earth ministry. Founded by Dr. Henry Morris, it is probably one of the most well-known young earth ministries in the world. These guys, like many of the “young-earthers,” are very strong in their stance for a literal 6-day creation, and, therefore, a very young earth (6,000-10,000 years old or somewhere in that vicinity).

Old Earth Sites

www.reasons.org - Christian astronomer Hugh Ross is the founder of this ministry. He gives some of the best reasons, I think, to believe in an old earth.  Also, given the implications of a Big Bang, I believe this provides a very strong evidence for God’s existence.  This is only one Old Earth site, but it is probably one of the more well-articulated, as well as Christian, ministries that attempts.  There are some good young-earth sites as well. Do the research for both the Old Earth view and the New Earth View on these sites, and let me know when you finally discover how old the earth is.

*Cult/Occult Specialty Ministries

www.watchmanfellowship.org – Very popular cult ministry.  The president of the ministry taught my cult class at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS). Any information or resources you would like on the cults would be found here. They are based out of Texas and they have an office in Birmingham, AL.  They have a wonderful “Cult Profile” notebook that I actually have in my office since it was used for my “cult” class in Seminary. I highly recommend this “notebook” if you would like to learn more about the cults and the various types of cults out there.

www.christiananswersforthenewage.org - Marcia Montenegro’s website. She’s a former witch and occultist.   There is an abundance of information on witchcraft, the new age, and various occult issues not normally discussed or known.

www.christiananswersforthenewage.org/Articles.html - Here is a page from Montenegro’s site that has an abundance of articles and such on various occult issues. You can get to this page from her main site, however, I thought I would make it easily accessible.

www.adherents.com - Interesting site that, generally, gives stats on world religions. If you want to compare Christian beliefs with other belief systems, this is one place to go. Also, if you were curious as to what famous people believed, then just go to the “famous adherents” link and look them up. It also gives you the religious information on the Presidents of the past, artists, writers, and a myriad of other information regarding religions and the religious belief

www.adherents.com/people/100_Nobel.html - 50 Nobel Laureates and Other Great Scientists Who Believe in God. Who says that only the “simple-minded” or “dummies” believe in God?  Of course, not all of these believe in the God of Christianity (the One True God, btw), but it does say something about the most brilliant minds in the world believing in a Creator/creator of the universe.

*Defending the Bible

(Many of the sites above in the “Apologetics Organizations/Ministries” give various tools to defend the Bible against the critics and to give good reasons for its inspiration and infallibility. I just have here some particular sites or articles that jump out as good to me).

www.str.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=5269 – an article by Greg Koukl of Stand to Reason ministries on the inspiration of the original autographs and the reasonableness behind the accuracy of the manuscripts.

*Homosexuality

www.exodus.to/content/view/165 - Probably one of the best ministries regarding the issue of homosexuality.  Various resources and helps on the issue.  Their mission statement is, “Mobilizing the body of Christ to minister grace and truth to a world impacted by homosexuality.”  There are many teens today (and adults for that matter) that are confused about this issue and we must address it appropriately and Biblically.

*Jewish Apologetics

(The websites here are listed to assist in showing a Jew that Jesus is their Messiah).

www.chosenpeople.com/store - This is a Messianic Jewish website (Jews who believe that Jesus is the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament).  I have the link set to the resource page where you can maybe use for research on the Old Testament or for help in giving answers to your Jewish friends.

BIBLE STUDY WEBSITES/RESOURCES

www.thebibletool.com

unbound.biola.edu - Biola University’s (Christian Apologetics/Theology college in California) online Bible and Bible study helps.

www.myfaith.com/megabible.htm - A plethora/myriad/conglomeration (!) of evangelical websites, Bible study helps, Christian publications, Christian ministries, etc. This site will lead you to so many other Christian sites that I would almost say that if you can’t find it here, then I’m not sure where it is!

hippocampusextensions.com/mcheyneplan.html - A “read-through-the-Bible-in-a-year” plan.  An old preacher’s (Rev. M’Cheyne) thoughts on reading through the Bible in a year and his plan to do so.

MISC. CHRISTIAN WEBSITES

*Movies

www.christiancinema.com/catalog/default.php - A good site that offers family/Christian friendly movies as well as, among other helps, a review of “regular” movies from a Christian viewpoint.

*Christian Publications

www.christianitytoday.com - Probably one of the central places to get the pulse of evangelical Christianity today.  Various types of publications and resources.

www.wdjconline.com - 93.7 WDJC based out of Birmingham.
